As artists we are often asked for donations for various causes.

One of the local charities that several of of artists have supported in the past is the Jennifer Ashleigh Foundation.  Their Gala, the 22nd Annual Auction and Dinner is April 26h at the Hilton Suites in Markham.

Tropical Sun

Margaret Grandison donated this painting to this very worthwhile charity.

Ray McNeice

Ray McNeice has just finished hanging 23 of his paintings on the walls of our "funky" downtown coffee house.

Here is a watercolour that he did one Sunday morning from across Main Street.

For The Love of Jo has been a supporter of the local art community for several years. It hosts a monthly rotation of the painters of the Stouffville Studio Tour and February is Ray’s month.

Please drop by if you're in our neighbourhood, say hello to Raphael or Michael and enjoy the best coffee in town. They also have wonderful homemade soups, sandwiches and desserts.

Classes with Lis

Lis Simpson is a certified instructor for teaching Art Clay Silver.
Art Clay Silver is water-based silver clay that can be molded easily.  It is fired with a torch or kiln to become 99.9% pure silver!  In the introductory class you learn the basic techniques of working with this amazing medium to make several textured pendants.  You will also learn some basic silver finishing skills.

In Part 2 you will create pendants incorporating a pre-fused glass cabochon or cubic zirconium.   Several techniques will be explored, including bezels to hold the cabochon and syringe work.  The finished piece must be kiln fired.

Contact Lis if you want more information on these classes (she also teaches out of her home studio.)
